We started Old Dominion in 2016 with one hive, one shed, and more stings than we'd like to admit.
Kenly & Destiny Cifers — Founders, Old Dominion Honeybee Services
Kenly started Old Dominion after doing his first removal in 2016 — a feral colony in a family member's shed. He had an old Langstroth hive, a basic beekeeping book, and two weeks of YouTube videos. He made plenty of mistakes and got stung plenty of times. By the end of it, he was completely hooked.
What started as a side project turned into a full referral network after a poorly planned AdWords campaign accidentally sent calls from Washington state, Texas, California and beyond. Rather than turn people away, Kenly found local specialists for every single one.
Today he manages the network, vets every specialist personally, and handles first contact with every customer — making sure the right person shows up for the right job.
🐝 In the removal world since 2016Destiny co-owns Old Dominion and has been part of the business since the beginning. She brings the warmth and follow-through that keeps customers feeling taken care of from first contact to completed job.
Together, Kenly and Destiny have built Old Dominion around a simple idea — that helping people should feel genuine, not transactional. That philosophy shows up in every customer interaction and every specialist they choose to work with.
